About & Methodology
NutriBase is a food nutrition reference. We gather data on calories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals and present it in a clear, comparable format.
Where the data comes from
The numbers are based on USDA FoodData Central — the public U.S. reference database for food composition. All figures are per 100 g of edible portion, and the source is cited on every food page.
The actual nutrition of a specific food depends on variety, region, storage, preparation and brand, so the values here should be treated as typical reference figures rather than exact for every sample.
How we calculate percentages
The "% DV" column shows the share of the Daily Value, based on a 2,000 kcal diet. For example, if a food has 25 g of protein per 100 g and the Daily Value is 50 g, that shows as 50% DV. Percentages make it easy to see how rich a food is in a given nutrient.
Our principles
- We don't make up numbers. If a reliable value isn't available, the table shows "—".
- We always cite the data source and the date it was last updated.
- We keep reference information separate from advertising: affiliate blocks are labeled, and the food data does not depend on them.
- The content is for general reference and does not replace advice from a physician or registered dietitian.
